About Leander
The roots of Leander Nelson Vandereecken lie in a small West Flemish village, but you would think he was raised on the banks of the Mississippi. He has a soul deeply rooted in roots music. As a five-year-old, he first came into contact with folk and bluegrass music. Soon after, he inherited his grandmother's mandolin, beginning his journey of discovery in blues and roots music. At the age of 17, Leander moved to Ghent and started the successful and beloved Americana band "A Murder In Mississippi" together with his sister. Leander is also known as the host and driving force behind "Folk & Americana Jam" at the Missy Sippy club in Ghent. Leander breathes music, constantly creating new songs and melodies. As a songwriter, singer, and guitarist, he is involved in various musical projects. Leander is also a part of "The Missy Sippy All-stars."
